Canon Joy serves as executive assistant to the Bishop Ordinary (The Rt. Rev. Mark Engel). She is responsible for scheduling appointments and meetings involving Bishop Mark, serves as secretary of the Standing Committee, assists with diocesan office planning, and, most notably, plans and manages large diocesan events, including Clergy Retreat and Mission Conference and Synod.

Marti serves as personal assistant to the Canon to the Ordinary (The Rev. Canon Mark Hottel). She is responsible for supporting happenings in his office, most notably as the first point of contact for ordinands/transfers and the ordination process as a whole. Marti will also have responsibilities when it comes to planning retreats and special events.

Pat is your primary point of contact in the diocesan office. She is responsible for general office communications, maintaining clergy files, managing MinistrySafe, as well as day-to-day mailing and financial account management.

Thank you so much for the kind sentiments - cards and emails you sent me over the past few months since my retirement from my 10 year position as Bishop's Assistant/Diocesan Administrator. I value each one of you and so appreciate your prayers and blessings. I am really quite overwhelmed! I am so glad that I will still be seeing you all at Clergy Retreat and Synod, and will have a little more time for conversation and fellowship! God has blessed our Diocese with excellent leadership and we can look forward to wonderful things in our future.

Just a note of clarification on these: When sending a check to the diocesan office, please be sure to note in the check’s memo line to whose discretionary fund (Bishop Engel or BIshop Kannapell) you wish your donation to go. You can always give via our website as well and select the desired fund in the first dropdown menu. Thank you!!

AROUND THE DIOCESE

Christ Church Anglican - Grand Rapids, MI

Christ Church Grand Rapids celebrated our first service in a new building on Palm Sunday! We began a new lease on a building in the Grand Rapids metro area with the option and favor from our landlord to purchase at the end of our lease. Please be in prayer for us as we dream about how God is inviting us to steward this new space for His Kingdom work in Grand Rapids. We are excited to have a more stable and permanent place (with 24/7 access!) for ministry and our communal life. Join us in thanking God for His provision!

NEXT GEN MINISTRIES

REGISTRATION CLOSES MAY 1!

Hurricane Helene devastated communities across the southeastern United States in late September 2024. The Tropical Storm particularly affected western North Carolina, Eastern Tennessee, and southwestern Virginia, and is one of the deadliest storms on record.

ARDF’s Domestic Disaster Response Network helped to coordinate relief in efforts between various churches and communities. We will be spending a week serving with their partner organizations on the ground in North Carolina to help bring aid to this region that is still reeling from the hurricane.
