FROM THE DESK OF BISHOP MARK

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I trust that you are living into the rhythms of a holy Lent. May this be a season in which we all grow deeper in our love for and faith in our Savior Jesus who loves us and gave himself for us.

I am writing to remind you of two important happenings in the ADGL/ACNA: Chrism Service on Maundy Thursday and Provincial Council and Assembly.

The ADGL will hold a Chrism Service (blessing of oils) at the Pro-Cathedral, Holy Spirit Anglican in Akron, OH, on Maundy Thursday (March 28) at 7:00pm. During this annual ceremony, oils used for sacraments and rituals are blessed and consecrated by the Bishop. All are invited to attend.

Provincial Council and Assembly is being held in Latrobe, PA this year. This presents a unique opportunity for many ADGL to attend this historic “ACNA Family Gathering” as the new Archbishop will be elected and begin his term. Please encourage your people to pray fervently for these important meetings and to register to attend Provincial Assembly here, if possible. The dates are:

June 20-23: Electing Conclave of the College of Bishops
June 24-25: Provincial Council (delegates only)
June 25-28: Provincial Assembly/ACNA 15 year anniversary (open to public)

from coldness of heart and wanderings of mind, that with steadfast thoughts

and kindled affections we may worship you in spirit and in truth;

A joyous visitation on February 11 at Ascension Anglican in Marion, IN (Fr. Joe Murphy, Vicar). It was my privilege to ordain Steven Stasson to the Diaconate and confirm/receive seven.

A Retreat for Vocational Discernment

TRINITY SCHOOL FOR MINISTRY IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THEY ARE HOSTING THE CALL RETREAT ON JUNE 20-23, 2024!

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE, LET OTHERS KNOW, AND STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFORMATION!

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN MARCH 1ST.

For any not familiar, this retreat is sponsored by Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA and is, "aimed at adults who are listening for the call of the Lord and considering whether that vocation might be in full-time ministry. The retreat will include special speakers offering talks on what a vocation is, how to discern God’s call, what formation for ministry looks like, the cultivation of the spiritual life, and participating in the mission of God. The backbone of the retreat will be the Liturgy of the Hours (Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Compline), with time for one-on-one spiritual direction as we seek to listen together to what the Lord is saying."

ADGL Youth Mission Trip to Livingstone Monastery in Newport News, VA

What will we be doing?

We'll be serving alongside Br. Tim Luken at the Five Loaves Food pantry. You can find out a little more about the food pantry here.

What Grades can come?

Curent 6th-12th graders

How much will it cost?

Cost for meals and incidentals will be about $215 per person, in addition to whatever each church needs to get everyone to and from Newport News.

What is the schedule? What are sleeping arrangements?

More details about logistics will come once we know how many are coming on the trip.

Contact Canon Andrew if you are interested. We will need final numbers by May 12th so we can plan out all the details of the trip.
