Bishop Search Committee Members

  • The Rev. Canon Andrew Unger

    Chair, Search Committee

    Andrew is currently the Associate Rector of Youth and Family at St Luke’s Anglican Church in Copley and has been in ministry since he started as a youth pastor in 2007. He has served at the parish, diocesan, and provincial levels, and co-authored "Oaks of Righteousness: an Anglican Way of Youth Ministry" (Anglican House, 2023). He graduated from Moody Bible Institute with a BA in Youth Ministry, and from Wheaton Graduate School with an MA in History of Christianity. He was ordained to the priesthood on Pentecost in 2012 (on the same day that his oldest son was baptized!)

    Andrew and his wife, Joy, are a pastoral couple who look to use their unique gifts to build up and equip God’s people to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly before God (Micah 6:8). They live in Fairlawn with their two sons (Luke and Simon) and dog (Sophie).

  • Mrs. Mickie Murphy

    Vice Chair, Search Committee

    Mickie Murphy has dedicated her career to one goal: helping businesses build successful retirement plans that work for everyone. With broad-based experience in the full administration of 401(k), pension, and ESOP plans, she specializes in creating smart, custom plan designs that benefit both owners and employees.

    Mickie recently joined Prime Capital to lend her deep expertise to wealth management clients. Drawing on her experience as a former president of a Third Party Administration and Consulting practice, she provides invaluable support and guidance, ensuring clients successfully navigate the complexities of ERISA reporting and other regulatory requirements.

    As a highly credentialed professional—including her status as an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) with the IRS and multiple designations from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA)—Mickie is a trusted voice in the industry. She regularly shares her insights as a speaker at major conferences and as a contributor to industry publications.

    Mickie has previously served ADGL as a member of the Finance Committee, and the diocese as delegate to the Provincial Council for the past four years.

    In addition, Mickie is available as public speaker where she helps audiences discover their resilience by speaking about the importance of building community, faith, and embracing change with a positive attitude.

    Mickie and her husband, Fr. Joe Murphy, live in Indiana where they are the indentured servants to three cats.

    Search Committee Member

    Kris has been married to Emily for fifteen years and is a proud father of two boys: Levi (9) and Luke (6). He is a proud Michigander and native Grand Rapidian. Before planting Christ Church Anglican in Grand Rapids, he worked in Christian publishing and seminary administration. He is particularly fond of British motorcycles, books, the Detroit Lions, and a fresh pair of Van’s shoes. Getting to be a parish priest is among the central joys of his life.

  • The Rev. Kristin Yates

    Search Committee Member

    The Rev. Kristen Yates is an ordained priest and trained spiritual director serving in our diocese.  After having served as a youth pastor, Christian mediator, and deacon in Virginia for a number of years, Rev. Kristen was ordained as a priest in 2011 and has participated in church planting teams in Washington, Massachusetts, California, and now Ohio since that time.  Currently, Rev. Kristen serves as the associate rector of the Mission Cincinnati, where she has served since 2018.  Rev. Kristen has degrees in Biology, International Relations, Theology, and Divinity, and is currently pursuing her Dmin in Spiritual Formation at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.  Rev. Kristen’s passion is helping people find deep intimacy with the Lord and maturing as disciples of Christ.  

  • Mrs. Melissa Bowman

    Search Committee Member

    Melissa Bowman was received into the Anglican Church in 2012, and since then she has been an active member of congregations in the Dioceses of the Mid-Atlantic, Western Gulf Coast, and Great Lakes. Melissa, her husband Josh, and their two children currently reside in Holland, Michigan where she serves as Treasurer of the Vestry and a member of the Altar Guild at All Saints Holland. She also serves as a lay member on the Diocese's Standing Committee. In addition to her experience as a lay church leader, Melissa has over 15 years of nonprofit management experience, primarily in the areas of financial and impact data analysis and strategy development.

  • Mr. Caleb Sasser

    Search Committee Member

    Caleb Sasser is a lay catechist in the parish of St. Anselm Anglican in Lakewood, Ohio. He and his wife, Anna, have three children and they live in North Olmsted, Ohio where they enjoy hosting a weekly small group. Caleb is the Upper School Principal at Westside Christian in Westlake Ohio where he is paid to administrate and teaches for free. Caleb is a southern transplant from his childhood home in North Carolina who relishes the cool temperatures of Northeast Ohio.
